A $1.2 million project is under way at Van Andel Arena will stretch the northwest corner of the concourse outside of the building’s exterior wall, just south of the arena’s main entrance. That corner will increase by about 3,500 square feet and possibly create enough room for a food court and more revenue from concessions. The work is also expected to alleviate the congestion that occurs in that corner for heavily-attended events as existing concession stands will be moved from the area. The project is expected to be completed before the Grand Rapids Griffins home opener Oct. 8. |
