Cherry joins grape in Perrigo line Elizabeth Slowik
Cherry joins grape as the flavors offered in a children's allergy syrup over-the-counter medication in Perrigo Co.'s line-up, the Allegan company announced Monday.
Perrigo announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the company's plans to manufacture and market cetirizine cherry-flavored syrup at 1mg/ml. The pediatric medication is indicated for indoor and outdoor allergies.
The company already provides the OTC store-brand medication in a grape flavor.
The product is comparable to Zyrtec Children's Allergy Syrup from McNeil Consumer Healthcare, which has a market of $580 million over 12 months.
Perrigo stated that it expects to bring the product to the market in the first quarter of fiscal 2011.
