Grand Valley gets an A+

Grand Valley State University graduated at the top of the Newsmaker of the Year class Monday when the Allendale-based institution of higher learning earned accolades from the Business Journal for its long-term economic impact. At right, GVSU's provost and vice president of academic affairs, Gayle Davis, accepted a framed story commemorating the university's achievements from Business Journal Editor Carole Valade and Publisher John Zwarensteyn following an Economic Club of Grand Rapids luncheon at the JW Marriott. GVSU's projects during 2011 included construction of the high-tech Mary Pew Idema Library Learning and Information Commons in Allendale and the L. William Seidman Center for entrepreneurial study in downtown Grand Rapids. The university also purchased land to expand the Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences on the Medical Mile in Grand Rapids.
