Advertising Options Online Advertising Options: GRBJ.com offers several methods of advertising including banner and tiles ads. Note: You may advertise with any combination of the following media 1) GRBJ print, 2) GRBJ.com 3) both print and online. Each media are described in greater detail below in the following online options.
Banner Ads: Banner ads are best for building brand awareness and they entice the viewer to click through to obtain more information about the company and its products. The ads are scheduled on a "Run of Site" or ROS basis (available ad position inventory) unless requested otherwise.
Full Banner Ad: The full-banner ad opportunities appear prominently across the top of nearly every screen. (468 x 60 pixels)

Ad Specifications: GRBJ.com reserves the right to refuse any online ad that does not function correctly. It is up to the advertiser to correct the online ad and re-submit it to the GRBJ.com production department. Please adhere to the following specifications:
Target Browsers for GRBJ.com: Internet Explorer 5.0 and above Safari Firefox
Target Operating Systems for GRBJ.com: Macintosh OS X tiger or above Windows XP and above
GIF format: All ads must be submitted in GIF format.
GIF 89 Animation: The GRBJ.com supports animations but requires that you limit the rotations to no more than three and fit within the maximum file size listed in the Ad Specifications section.
File Size: Recommended maximum file size for full-banner ad: 50k Recommended maximum file size for tile ad: 20k
Ads served by third party agencies: All advertising served by a third party agency and using "cookie" technology MUST submit a link to that agency's "privacy statement". Cookies must be limited to one per session. Ads that do not comply will be removed.
Creating the Ads: There are two ways to develop an ad. 1) you may create/provide your own online ad, or 2) contract with Gemini Publications Inc.'s advertising department for pricing of production ads. We require 48 hours for production.

Submitting Your Ad Please submit your design (and URL if link is desired), five (5) business days in advance of your first online advertising placement. Updated designs may be sent with three (3) days notice. Email your ad to your sales representative.
Online Ad Rates & Policies Pricing: All advertising is priced on a per-week basis and is agency commissionable with supplied advertising materials. All ads run in 13, 26, 39 or 52 week consecutive time periods. Each ad is rotated with maximum of five other advertisers per ad position. Space is reserved at the time of closing of each weekly Business Journal. Example: Thursday May 9 for Monday May 20. Ad appears 10 days after closing. Billing begins when first ad appears on the web site and continues for said number of consecutive weeks of the contract.
Frequency Discounts: Advertisers of the weekly printed version of the Grand Rapids Business Journal may avail themselves to discounts on the following scale: 5% for 1-12 time advertisers; 10% for 13-25 time advertisers; 15% for 26+ advertisers.

Ad Specifications
Please submit your ad in .gif format (maximum file sizes are listed below the ad in red type). This can be an animated gif file, but must follow guides below for maximum file size and will be tested prior to acceptance on the site. All advertisements with white backgrounds must include at least a 1 pixel border included in the ad size to equal specifications below.
All online ad campaigns must conform to the pixel dimensions shown within the sample ads below for each ad size. For example the full-banner ad is 468 wide x 60 pixels high. Each of these ad sizes are displayed with live ads around the border on this screen for your reference. Contract Terms & Conditions The organization or entity contracting for space covered by this contract (hereinafter called CLIENT) and the publication accepting this contract (hereinafter called PUBLISHER) hereby agree that they shall be governed by the following terms and conditions which shall be deemed incorporated in every insertion order and/or space contract tendered to PUBLISHER unless modified by a written agreement signed by an officer of Gemini Publications (owner of PUBLISHER), and that the terms and conditions below shall supercede any inconsistent statements in any CLIENT order(s) and/or contract(s).

1. PAYMENT AND BILLING
(a) PUBLISHER will invoice CLIENT immediately after each insertion unless otherwise provided on the face of this contract, and/or on the PUBLISHER'S rate card. Billing dates are subject to change. (b) Payment by CLIENT is due and payable within 10 days from date of invoice and/or statement in U.S. funds drawn on a U.S. bank. (c) Credit terms are available upon approval from PUBLISHER'S credit department. A credit application must be completed and submitted one week prior to closing date, or CLIENT must submit an approved current and complete Dun & Bradstreet report (not just a rating). Otherwise, payment terms are cash in advance (CIA) for all CLIENTS awaiting credit approval, or who advertise on a single insertion basis, or who are engaged in a specific advertising category considered credit risky as defined by PUBLISHER. (d) Invoices and/or statements shall detail all charges. (e) PUBLISHER agrees to hold CLIENT solely liable for payment to be made under this contract, except that where CLIENT is an advertising agency, the person, firm, or corporation which authorizes agency to contract for space hereunder shall be held liable jointly and severally with agency for all advertising charges. No credit will be extended to advertising orders or space reservations that claim sequential liability.
2. TERMINATION
(a) Any contract, except cover positions, may be cancelled by either party upon thirty (30) days notice in writing prior to the space reservation deadline, in which case the difference between the rate specified herein, and the rate earned by the space actually used, will be paid by CLIENT. This rate differential shall be called a short rate. It is not a penalty. (b) Cover positions are cancelled by either party upon sixty (60) days notice in writing under the same deadline and rate guidelines specified in item 2.(a) above. (c) PUBLISHER reserves the right to cancel this contract at any time upon default in the payment of invoices and/or statements, or other breach, or in the event of any material violation of any other conditions herein named. (d) Upon such cancellation, all advertising done hereunder, including short rates and/or any other charges incurred under this contract, and unpaid, shall become immediately due and payable.

3. RATES AND CHARGES
(a) All rates shall be published and shall be furnished to CLIENT upon request. There shall be no secret rates, rebates, or agreements affecting rates. (b) PUBLISHER'S rate card means that schedule of advertising rates and terms upon which this contract is based. The rate card on which this contract is based shall be part of this contract. (c) PUBLISHER represents that the rate stated in the contract is the minimum rate charged by the PUBLISHER for an equal or lesser amount of space, for the same class of advertising, to be published in a like position, under the same conditions, within the same period of time. (d) PUBLISHER reserves the right to increase space rates at any time, but no such space increase(s) shall be applied to advertising space under this contract unless a material change that affects PUBLISHER warrants such increase(s). But no such increase(s) shall be applied retroactively. (e) Frequency discounts are earned by contracting, in advance for the desired frequency to be run during the contract year. Contract advertising must be inserted within twelve months of first insertion. (f) Frequency discounts are earned by using, within a 12 month period, two (2) or more insertions in quarterly publications, three (3) or more insertions in monthly publications, or four (4) or more insertions in weekly publications. (i) PUBLISHER states that production charges are in addition to space charges. The following services will be itemized and billed separately: typography, photography, separations, screens, halftones, reverses, veloxes/stats, laser prints, stripping, alterations, shipping, special handling, electronic conversions, original artwork, and/or major layout and design and proof corrections. Mounted veloxes, laser prints, and/or original art are subject to production charges. Corrections subject to charges when the responsibility of the CLIENT/agency. Any alterations necessary to convert ads to either size and/or color specifications are subject to charges. PUBLISHER reserves the right to increase production charges at any time. (j) PUBLISHER states that a short rate will be billed to any CLIENT that does not complete the minimum specified contract schedule. (k) Credits earned by CLIENT during any contract year shall be applied toward future billing for space. (l) No cash rebates shall be made. (m) PUBLISHER states that a service charge shall be billed to CLIENT/agency on all receivables over 30 days at a rate per month and/or per annum specified on the PUBLISHER'S rate card and/or on the face of this contract. (n) All advertising materials designed and produced by PUBLISHER are exclusively for use in its publications and production charges cover only that use. Any other use(s) will result in applicable creative agency user fees. (o) A production composition charge will be invoiced to CLIENT for any advertisement(s) set up and cancelled without any insertions. (p) Any alterations necessary to convert advertisement(s) to either size, color and/or electronic specifications are subject to production charges and will be invoiced accordingly.

4. ADVERTISING COPY AND MATERIAL
(a) Any advertising materials are subject to acceptance by PUBLISHER. PUBLISHER reserves the right to reject any advertising at any time whether it was ever previously acknowledged and/or published. (b) PUBLISHER will assume no financial responsibility for errors in copy and/or materials. (c) If new copy and/or materials is/are not supplied by the appropriate closing date, PUBLISHER will repeat last advertisement and/or invoice for the space specified in the contract schedule, said charge to be paid for by CLIENT at the existing contract rate. (d) No change will be made to an existing CLIENT advertisement without the written consent of CLIENT in advance. (e) If CLIENT requests PUBLISHER to produce an advertisement on its behalf, PUBLISHER will attempt to produce the ad in such type or style that, in its sole opinion, most nearly corresponds to the layout/design presented by CLIENT. The advertisement may be inserted by PUBLISHER without submitting a proof to CLIENT unless layout/design is received by PUBLISHER before appropriate closing date, and CLIENT has submitted a written request for such proof before insertion. (f) Materials furnished by CLIENT that occupy more space than specified in the contract shall be reduced to fit the contracted space, if possible, unless CLIENT furnishes new camera-ready materials prior to appropriate closing date. Any such production charges incurred by PUBLISHER shall be invoiced to CLIENT. If such materials cannot be reduced, PUBLISHER shall invoice CLIENT the increased space charges at the existing CLIENT frequency . (g) PUBLISHER reserves the right to use column rules around all advertisements, except bleed, to maintain format continuity. (h) CLIENTS requiring proofs must submit complete advertising materials prior to appropriate closing dates. Proofs sent to CLIENTS must be returned to PUBLISHER within 24 hours of receipt, with an authorized signature, and with all corrections clearly noted on proof. (i) Any deliberate attempt to copy or simulate PUBLISHER'S editorial format is not permitted. PUBLISHER will place the word "advertisement" at the top and/or bottom of any advertisement which, in PUBLISHER'S sole opinion, copies or simulates editorial matter.

5. PROOF OF INSERTION
(a) PUBLISHER shall mail or otherwise supply CLIENT with the page(s), affidavit(s) or page designations on and/or with the invoice(s) and/or statements of all advertising ordered in this contract. (b) PUBLISHER'S failure to furnish such page(s), affidavit(s) or page designations on and/or with the invoice(s) and/or statement(s) shall not constitute a breach of this contract.
6. OMISSION OF ADVERTISING
(a) PUBLISHER assumes no financial responsibility for failing to publish any advertisement. Failure to insert a specific advertisement that was ordered in any particular issue and/or issues shall invalidate the order for insertion in the missed issue, but shall nor constitute a breach of this contract. (b) PUBLISHER reserves the right to reject, delete, and/or omit any ad at any time and for any reason.
7. GENERAL PUBLISHER/CLIENT LIABILITIES
(a) In consideration of the publication of advertisements, CLIENT will indemnify and hold PUBLISHER, its employees, agents, and its subcontractors free and harmless from any expenses, damages and costs (including reasonable attorney's fees) resulting in any way from PUBLISHER'S compliance with any CLIENT instructions, insertion orders and/or space contracts (including, but not by way of limitation, from claims of libel, violation of privacy, copyright infringement or otherwise) and PUBLISHER shall have full right to settle any such claim and to control any litigation arbitration as to which it may be a party all at the cost of the CLIENT and/or CLIENT agency who shall be deemed joint and several indemnitors, and CLIENT and/or CLIENT agency warrants that it is authorized to bind, and does bind, CLIENT to such indemnity jointly and severally with CLIENT agency. (b) All advertisements are accepted and published by PUBLISHER upon the representation that CLIENT is authorized to publish the entire contents and subject matter thereof. No liability is assumed as to any instructions received after closing date. (c) PUBLISHER shall not be bound by any conditions, printed or otherwise, on contracts, order blanks and/or instructions when such conditions clearly conflict with its policies. (d) PUBLISHER shall exercise normal precautions in handling of property and mail, but assumes no liability for loss or damage to advertising materials furnished by CLIENT. (e) This contract, including the rights hereunder, may not be assigned or transferred without first obtaining the consent of PUBLISHER in writing, nor may PUBLISHER be required to insert advertising hereunder for the benefit of any advertiser other than the one named on the face of this contract. Failure of PUBLISHER or CLIENT to enforce any of the provisions herein shall not be construed as a general relinquishment or waiver as to that or any other provision. (f) PUBLISHER and CLIENT obligations hereunder are subject to the terms and conditions of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. (g) Thi |
