| Some state Republican lawmakers are proposing to temporarily eliminate Michigan's sales tax on gasoline for the summer driving season. The proposal would cut the 6 percent sales tax from Memorial Day to Labor Day, but wouldn't cut the state's 19-cent-per-gallon gasoline tax that's used for road construction and maintenance. There also is talk of a summertime break from the federal gasoline tax. The proposals are: |
