Recruitment Alliance Creates Internship Site
LANSING — Sorry, it doesn’t come with fries and a cold soda.
But McInternship does come to the virtual aid of any Michigan employer that is looking to recruit college students for internships or permanent high-tech positions.
The Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC) and Michigan Virtual University recently added McInternship to the Careersite portion of the MEDC’s Web page to assist employers with their recruiting efforts.
“This is a great opportunity for companies to find the highest quality interns from universities in Michigan and neighboring states. McInternship is the newest component to the Michigan Recruitment Alliance designed to attract and retain graduates to Michigan,” said Doug Rothwell, MEDC president and CEO.
McInternship is part of the recruitment effort launched by the MEDC earlier this month.
The recruitment campaign targets students in the fields of information technology, life sciences and advanced manufacturing who are attending colleges in the state and a select group of out-of-state universities. The goal is to make college graduates aware of the high-tech jobs available with Michigan firms.
“High-tech companies and computer-savvy students are accustomed to using Web-based resources. So this site is the perfect venue for matching talent to opportunity,” said David Spencer, president and CEO of Michigan Virtual University.
There is no charge for Michigan firms to post openings for internship positions on the site at www.michigan.org. The Recruitment Alliance will unveil the new feature to students at 18 career fairs this spring.
