Customers of Internet service provider EagleNet Inc. will not notice any changes resulting from the company’s acquisition last week by Grand Rapids-based Iserv Co., other than new products and services that will emerge.

EagleNet, founded in 1995, will retain its brand name and office in Holland as it continues focusing on the lakeshore market. The deal gives EagleNet access to Iserv’s larger data center and statewide network.

EagleNet founder and president Rick Huizenga promises a “seamless transition.”

“This move comes after much careful consideration on selecting the best-possible path for our customers, our own team, and the fundamental values that guide our company,” Huizenga wrote in an e-mail last week to customers. “This merger combines EagleNet’s unique service and product strengths serving the lakeshore market with Iserv’s world-class technology, range of services and statewide reach. The result is a single local company that is much greater than the sum of its parts in its ability to serve residential and business users alike.”

The acquisition gives Iserv more than 40,000 business and residential subscribers. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
