Ballard Retires From Steelcase
Robert Ballard plans to retire from his role as president of North American operations at Steelcase Inc. at the end of the year, ending a 34-year career with the company.
Ballard has served as president of Steelcase North America since November 1999, leading the company’s manufacturing, sales and marketing activities in North America. “I am fortunate to have spent the majority of my career at Steelcase,” Ballard said. “It’s been rewarding to see how the company has grown so tremendously over the years and to be part of that success.”
Ballard was involved in all aspects of Steelcase’s operations, including distribution and logistics, product development, information services and human resources. He joined Steelcase in 1967 as safety manager at the company's Grand Rapids facilities.
Steelcase President and CEO Jim Hackett will assume Ballard’s duties while the position is open.
