GRAND RAPIDS — Mill Steel has completed acquisition of Feralloy North American’s 180,000-square-foot tension inspection and processing facility in Detroit.

Mill Steel supplies finished, flat rolled steel products to automotive, office furniture and appliance customers throughout North America.

The expanded Detroit operation allows Mill Steel to branch out and service the tension leveling and inspection needs of steel producers and OEM customers, said David Samrick, chairman and CEO.

The acquisition gives Mill Steel a larger presence in the Detroit marketplace and bolsters its position in the automotive, office furniture and mill finishing markets, he said.

The Feralloy purchase marks the company’s third major acquisition in three years.

Since its founding in 1959, Mill Steel has expanded from a single plant in Grand Rapids to a multi-facility operation serving the Midwest and southern regions of the United States and Canada.

The company employs more than 150 people at its operations in Grand Rapids, Detroit, Louisville, Ky. and Windsor, Ontario.
