National City Is Top SBA Lender

DETROIT — For the second year in a row, the U.S. Small Business Administration has named National City Bank of Michigan/Illinois the leading SBA lender in Michigan.

National City took first place with 213 loans totaling more than $25.5 million in fiscal 2002.

The number of SBA loans the bank made in 2002 was 45 percent higher than the number it made in 2001.

For 2002, National City also ranked as the sixth largest SBA lender in the country and the top cumulative SBA lender within its footprint, which includes Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Indiana.
