Kent Picking Up More Parkland
GRAND RAPIDS — Members of the Kent County Finance and Physical Resources Committee have agreed to buy two more properties for Millennium Park.
The transactions will cost the county $436,550, if county commissioners approve the deals on Thursday. The parcels total 2.65 acres and both are situated along the northern edge of the 1,500-acre planned public park.
Grubb & Ellis/Paramount Properties represented the county in the transactions.
The committee also received $8.1 million of capital-improvement requests from six county departments last week that would require $7.9 million to be spent from the General Fund. The county, however, has only budgeted $4 million from the fund for its Capital Improvements Program (CIP) for 2004.
The CIP Review Team will begin looking at the requests on Tuesday, April 22, and will make its funding recommendations to the committee in mid-May. The chosen projects will come before county commissioners on June 3.
