Airport Eyes Minimum Standards
The airport’s current minimum standards date to September 1985, and a lot of things have changed since then in terms of the quantity and types of activities going at the airport, said Matthew Hoffman, the airport’s properties administrator.
Minimum standards set the threshold entry requirements for companies that want to provide aeronautical activities and services at Ford International. They’re intended to protect the public from “irresponsible, unsafe or inadequate activities or services” and to promote fair competition at the airport.
Airport staff has reviewed current minimum standards and drafted an updated version, taking into consideration existing airport facilities, services offered, planned future development and competition, Hoffman said.
The update included research and analysis of peer airport standards, federal regulations, best business practices and other industry standards, he said.Meetings are scheduled through Aug. 27 to give the Aeronautics Board, airport tenants and the public opportunity to comment on the draft proposal.
