GRAND RAPIDS — The Charter Group recently announced the successful acquisition of Vital Concepts Inc. by Doug Sheehan, formerly of Mannesmann VDO in Detroit.

Sheehan served as CFO for the North American subsidiary of Mannesmann VDO, an automotive firm, before Siemens bought it out. He desired an opportunity to own and operate his own company and sought the assistance of The Charter Group in identifying that opportunity.

The Charter Group, a mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and valuation counseling firm, represented Sheehan in the transaction. He purchased the company from the family of the former owner.

Vital Concepts manufactures and distributes medical products such as insufflation tubes, irrigation and aspiration products and IV administration sets. Clients range from medical device manufacturers to distributors and end-users and are located throughout the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific. The firm is located on Kendrick SE in Grand Rapids.
