GRAND RAPIDS — The YWCA TRIBUTE! Awards have honored more than 130 women during the last quarter century for their efforts, perseverance and commitment to making the community a better place to live.

The organization now is accepting nominations for its 26th year.

Honorees are selected from a pool of candidates nominated by the community at large, all of whom are encouraged to nominate someone in one of the seven categories, which include advocacy; arts and communication; business; management; industry and labor; community service professions; and sports, fitness and wellness.

The TRIBUTE! Awards draws community sponsors each year, including this year’s title sponsor, Fifth Third Bank, and more than 60 additional corporate sponsors.

Proceeds from TRIBUTE! directly support the work of the YWCA and those it serves. The YWCA has been offering its services for more than 100 years and responds to the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault and child sexual abuse, as well as health fitness programs that help families grow stronger in mind and body and empowerment programs that allow girls to realize their potential.

To tell the YWCA about a remarkable woman fill out a nomination form at www.gr-ywca.org or call the YWCA at 459-4681 for a nomination form. Mail or fax the form to the YWCA by 5 p.m., Sept. 10.
