GRAND RAPIDS — The firm started out as a single Saab dealership just three years ago, but since then has become one of the largest local dealerships.

Fox Motors, which began with the purchase of Keenan Saab on South Division Avenue in early 2000, now has a dozen lines that cover every lifestyle at six metro locations.

“Car buyers should have the same quality experience whether they are buying their first car or their dream car,” said Dan DeVos, president and CEO of Fox Motors. “This is what they will enjoy at any of the Fox Motors dealerships.”

Those dealerships are Alpine Pontiac-Buick, Fox Hyundai, Fox Mitsubishi, Fox Isuzu, Fox Saab, and East Imports. East Imports, the latest addition to the Fox family, sells Audi, Mazda, Acura, Porsche, Subaru and Nissan models and recently earned Stellar Performer Certification status from Subaru.

“We will make it possible for people to purchase their automobiles from Fox Motors throughout their car-buying lives, and always enjoy a first-class experience while doing so,” added DeVos.

Fox Motors recently unveiled a new Web site, www.foxmotorsusa.com, where potential customers can find information on all of the models the company sells.

“We understand that car buyers want access to help when they need it, but don’t want to be accosted by sales people,” said David Green, executive vice president and COO of DP Fox Ventures, parent company of Fox Motors.

Although DeVos didn’t get started in the local auto market until January 2000, he has been selling cars in Canada since 1981. DeVos and college roommate James Massie have owned Georgian Pontiac-Buick-GMC near Toronto since then and the dealership has been named one of Canada’s top 10.

“That was really my first entry into independent business,” DeVos told the Business Journal in 2000, “with my old college roommate, and we’ve been involved with cars for a long time.”
