GRAND RAPIDS — The Small Business Technology Development Center (SBTDC) reports that the Department of Homeland Security is just now releasing its first ever solicitation requesting Phase 1 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) proposals.

And there isn’t much time to waste since proposals are due Dec. 15, 2003. That’s right, 2003.

For those who are interested in putting together a proposal within the next 30 days, there are eight topics that have the look and feel of many of the Department of Defense’s topics and that specify what is expected of the entrant during Phases 1, 2 and 3.

Information about the solicitation, requirements and other details about the SBIR program will be available at www.hsarpasbir.com beginning Nov. 19.

Greenwood Consulting Group, an SBIR consulting firm, is also offering proposal-writing workshops throughout the country; information pertaining to dates and times can be found at http://g-jgreenwood.home.att.net.
