GRAND RAPIDS — Tonight, glimaWest will award two West Michigan students a $2,000 scholarship from Grand Valley State University, all in the name of technology.

glimaWest, a West Michigan nonprofit professional association that supports and promotes the growth of the interactive and technology industries, will present the third annual awards at its holiday party and scholarship presentation at 6 p.m., at the Eberhard Center of GVSU.

Matt Jansen, a student at GVSU, and Robert Nyland, a student at Davenport University, will both receive scholarships toward the completion of an e-business or technology focused degree.

“Both of this year’s winners represent the future of West Michigan’s IT and business community,” said Darren Brown, president of glimaWest. “We are pleased to be able to assist both students in their ongoing quests for success.”

In addition to the scholarship presentation, the holiday event will feature Doug Brown as keynote speaker. Brown, a former Detroit Red Wing and current spokesperson for Sun Microsystems, will discuss the creation of winning teams in the information technology industry.

Costs for the event are $15 for members and $25 for nonmembers. Those interested in attending can visit www.glimawest.org for registration and additional information.
