GRAND RAPIDS — Northpointe Bank has purchased 10 acres in the 400 block of East Beltline for the site of its future corporate headquarters, as well as a second banking branch.

The bank currently leases corporate office space at 770 Kenmoor Ave. SE, just off Cascade Road and I-96.

The 10-acre parcel includes the site of Duba’s restaurant. Northpointe will lease that portion of the land to Duba’s, said President and CEO Charles A. Williams.

Northpointe will maintain the branch on Kenmoor but move its corporate offices to the East Beltline location, he said.

Although present and future space needs are part of the reason for the move, Williams said the new location also is expected to boost both the bank’s visibility and profile.

“It’s a very convenient location. Very easy in and out.”

He said the company has yet to decide on the design, square footage and timeline for construction of the building.

“It’s all speculation right now. We anticipate we will build a branch to begin with, then follow up with corporate offices in a few years,” he remarked.

Headquarters will remain at the Kenmoor location until that time.

Northpointe has approximately 60 employees presently and will eventually hire additional banking professionals to staff the new branch, he said.

Williams and Executive Vice President and COO Randall J. Ferris founded Northpointe in May 1999 as a full-service bank serving both retail and business customers.

Consumers make up about two-thirds of the bank’s client base and commercial customers about a third, Williams said.

The company specializes in residential lending and small commercial lending, he noted.

Northpointe Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Northpointe Bancshares Inc., a privately held bank holding company.

NPB Mortgage LLC, established in April 2001, is a subsidiary of Northpointe Bank.
