Remex Buys CDH Support Services

GRAND RAPIDS — Remex Systems Group has acquired CD&H Support Services, a move that brings additional systems engineers and more than 75 customers to Remex while also clearing up some confusion.

The confusion has arisen from the similarity between the origins and names of CD&H Support Services and C/D/H.

Michael Conway founded CD&H Support Services in 1997 and, at one time, was a partner in C/D/H, an IT firm serving medium to large corporations.

But the two firms always have been separate businesses and, since 2001, Conway’s involvement has been strictly with CD&H.

In addition to becoming a part of Remex, the downtown office of CD&H also soon will move to Remex’s headquarters in Kentwood.

The now-larger Remex will be able to offer business-to-business telecommunications from SBC and other telecom partners, plus network design, integration and storage from hardware and software providers such as Microsoft, HP/Compaq, IBM, Novell, XIOtech, Packeteer, Citrix and Symantec.

All told, Remex and the Trivalent Group that owns it, employ about 100 people, 60 of them in West Michigan and the remainder in Illinois and Wisconsin.

In general, Remex focuses on business-to-business technology, while Trivalent’s focus remains Internet service and telecommunications.

“We have made several moves in the past year,” said Remex President Mike Noordyke. “As our clients’ needs become increasingly complex, we will be there to meet and exceed their expectations, keeping their budgets in mind.”

He said that since November of 2002, Remex has:

  • Opened a Kalamazoo office to serve business there.

  • Merged with Trivalent in August.

  • Acquired Entre’ Computer Center, a service, support and network design company in Mount Pleasant, in December.
