Chamber Honors GYMCO Sports

GRAND RAPIDS — GYMCO Sports is the winner of the 2004 Small Business of the Year award presented by the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.

Doreen Bolhuis, president of GYMCO, will accept the award at the chamber’s annual Small Business Celebration on Wednesday, May 12, at DeVos Place.

Mark and Doreen Bolhuis, both longtime professional leaders in the gymnastics and sports community, founded GYMCO Sports in 1980. Established to provide positive sports education experiences for youth, the company offers a variety of sports programs for individuals, schools and churches.

“It is an indescribable honor to receive the Small Business of the Year award and I am grateful to the many dedicated people who have contributed to the mission and growth of GYMCO Sports,” said Doreen Bolhuis. “I am also thankful for the efforts of the chamber on behalf of small businesses in West Michigan. Their programs and services have been significant in propelling GYMCO forward. The Small Business of the Year award will serve as encouragement and inspiration to the GYMCO team as we endeavor to pursue excellence and serve our community.”

Other outstanding businesses nominated for this year’s award include Bar Divani, Compatico Inc., DVK Construction, Flow-Rite Controls, La Fuente Consulting, Presto Print and Supply Chain Solutions.
