HOLLAND — A Haworth is back as CEO of Haworth Inc.

Dick Haworth has added the CEO responsibilities to his duties as chairman after a seven-year absence of running the daily affairs of the company. He returned to the chief executive’s position of the office furniture maker following the abrupt departure of Bob Krasa, a former Dow Corning executive who joined Haworth Inc. just two and a half years ago and became CEO in early 2003 when Gerald Johanesson retired.

The management change puts Haworth, the son of founder G.W. Haworth, back in control of the day-to-day management of the 56-year-old family-owned company. He had served solely as chairman since 1997, focusing primarily on strategic planning.

Haworth’s return to CEO is a permanent move, company spokesman David Adamski said.

“He loves the business and he’s getting a little bit closer to it now and is committed to it,” Adamski said. “And he also has a strong and experienced executive team in place.”

The top management team, working as the Haworth Executive Office, now consists of Haworth, Franco Bianchi as chief operating officer of Haworth North America and global vice president of product line management, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of International Sectors Calvin Kreuze, Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing Gary Scitthelm, and Vice President of Global Human Resources Nancy Teutsch.

The company’s only explanation for Krasa’s resignation was that he retired and wanted to spend more time with his family and “pursue many interests.”
