Local PR Firm Earns Gold Award

NEW YORK —  January provided more evidence to buttress the contention of West Michigan public relations and advertising professionals that they are as good as anybody on Madison Avenue.

The evidence came in the form of a Gold Award that the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMIA) conferred upon Grand Rapids’ Felder Communications Group.

The firm earned the award for advertising excellence with its winning entry in the Adrian Awards Competition. The entry was Felder’s 2004 profile for the GeraldR.FordInternationalAirport

HSMAI paid tribute to Felder during its 15th annual Adrian Awards program, a black-tie gala on Jan. 24, 2005, at New York’s Marriott Marquis.

More than 700 industry and marketing executives attended the gathering. The Adrian Awards competition — considered the largest and most prestigious event of its kind — is in its 47th year.

Felder’s profile of the airport was among more than 1,350 entries from 45 countries. Teams of experts from all sectors of the industry judged the entries. 

HSMAI is an organization of sales and marketing professionals representing all segments of the hospitality industry. With a strong focus on education, HSMAI become the industry champion in identifying and communication trends in the hospitality industry, and bringing together customers and members at 15 annual events. Founded in 1927, HSMAI is an individual membership organization comprising nearly 7,000 members worldwide, with 38 chapters in the Americas region.
