GRAND RAPIDS — More than 200 people attended Grand Rapids Business Journal’s first Top Women-Owned Business luncheon March 8 at Hudsonville’s Pinnacle Center, and four women picked up top honors at the event.

Nominees were split into categories based on company revenues.

In the less than $1.49 million category, Cynthia Kay Afendoulis, president and CEO of CK & Co. Media Production, earned the top honor.

Irmgard Cooper, president of Muskegon’s IMC Products/IMC-Seabrook, received the award in the $1.5 million to $3.99 million category.

The largest category, $7 million or more, went to Zeeland-based Valor Industries President Juanita Briggs.

At the culmination of the ceremony, Carole Valade, Business Journal editor, announced that the first Rita A. Williams Award for overall excellence would go to the award’s namesake, CEO and board chair of Gill Industries.

Cynthia Pasky, CEO of Strategic Staffing Solutions, an information technology services company that is based in Detroit and has offices throughout the United States and in Europe, was the luncheon’s keynote speaker. The event was sponsored by Huntington Bank.
