GRAND RAPIDS — Lansing-based Capital Consultants Inc. and Grand Rapids' DesignWorks A/E completed their merger earlier this week.

Officials called it a strategic move to expand services, client base and geographic reach. The new firm, CC/DWAE, is a full service engineering, architecture, planning and technology firm with 90 employees in three Michigan offices located in Lansing, Grand Rapids and Gaylord. It will be headquartered in Lansing

"The merger significantly enhances Capital Consultants/DesignWorks A/E's capabilities in the engineering and architecture service areas, and adds a number of specialty capabilities that not only broadens our services, but expands our client base and offerings to our existing clients," stated Ray Tadgerson, president and CEO. "Today, we become a dynamic leader in several service sectors with existing client project backlogs."

The two firms have been partners on various ventures for seven years, and have shared an office since December.

Established in 1966, Capital Consultants Inc. provides engineering services to government agencies, industries, institutions, architects, developers, and private and public sector clients.

DesignWorks A/E — also established in 1966 as VanWienen Professional Group —specializes in the design and renovation of commercial, civic, educational and religious facilities.

"I am convinced that by joining forces with Capital Consultants we will be able to further enhance our level of service to architecture and engineering clients," stated Paul Rozeboom, DesignWorks A/E principal.
