GRAND RAPIDS — Christian publisher Zondervan Corp. announced this week that Doug Lockhart will succeed Bruce Ryskamp as president. Ryskamp will continue to serve as CEO.
Lockhart joined Zondervan in 2002 as vice president of marketing for Bibles. In 2004, he was promoted to senior vice president of marketing for Zondervan’s entire publishing enterprise, including books, Bibles and Zonderkidz. Doug has earned my respect and the respect of others for his strong leadership, innovative thinking, dedication and passion for our mission. His many tangible contributions helped him rise through our ranks rapidly and proved to be invaluable to our growth,” stated Ryskamp. “I continue to be impressed daily by Doug’s abilities, and drive, and believe he is extremely well-equipped to handle the duties and responsibilities that will come with his new position.”
As CEO, Ryskamp will continue to oversee and direct Zondervan’s growth strategies and continue to serve on the HarperCollins Executive Committee. As president, Lockhart will begin to oversee day-to-day operations across all aspects of the company.
Lockhart joined Zondervan from McGraw-Hill Publishers, where he served as vice president of marketing for its children’s division. Prior to his work in publishing, Lockhart held various sales management and marketing positions at leading consumer products maker Johnson & Johnson. Lockhart holds a bachelor’s degree from Spring Arbor College and an MBA from Western Michigan University.
