Volkema Joins WWW Board

ROCKFORD — Michael A. Volkema, current chairman and former CEO of office furniture maker Herman Miller Inc., is joining Wolverine World Wide Inc.’s board of directors.

Volkema holds a bachelor’s degree from WesternMichiganUniversity and a law degree from WayneStateUniversity. He came to Herman Miller in 1990 when the company acquired Meridian Inc., a filing products company where he served as president and chief operations officer. In 1993, he was promoted to CEO of the Meridian division. Two years later, he was promoted to president and CEO of Herman Miller.

“In addition to Michael’s wealth of experience in business, his focus in the areas of corporate culture, design innovation and environmental responsibility will bring added strength to the Wolverine board,” said Timothy J. O’Donovan, Wolverine’s chairman and CEO. “His distinguished track record of building business success with breakthrough products and strong customer relationships will prove to be valuable assets as the company pursues its vision of becoming the world’s premier footwear company in the markets we serve.”

Volkema begins his tenure with Wolverine’s 10-person board on Dec. 1.
