NeoCon Strong Debut For Turion

Turion Bamboo Traders couldn’t have scripted a better introduction to NeoCon. It took home two Best of NeoCon Awards in its debut showing, including a coveted Innovation Award — the only West Michigan company to earn one.

“This is incredible,” said Turion President James Oonk. “to come out of the gate like this … the only other companies that win two awards are these huge companies like Herman Miller.”

The Holland bamboo importer launched in February at the Surfaces Show in Las Vegas. Its primary product line includes flooring and furniture panels made from Chinese bamboo. Bamboo is adaptable to both commercial and residential applications and works easily with any decorating style.

Its primary market is green building and sustainable product design. Because bamboo reaches maturity in five or six years rather than a traditional hardwood’s 60 to 100 years, its use contributes to certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy Efficient Design standard.
