KENTWOOD — Kentwood Office Furniture recently acquired the office furniture division of Jackson-based Maddalena’s Inc.

The new entity will operate under the name Kentwood Office Furniture-Maddalena’s. It will be the company’s fourth location — with existing offices in Kentwood, Detroit and Chicago — providing a valuable presence in the Jackson and southeast Michigan area. Through this acquisition, the Kentwood sales force now has a statewide territory.

No job loss will come as a result of the merger. All of Maddalena’s employees will remain with the company, including namesake Steve Maddalena.

“This acquisition enhances our competitive position and extends our line of product and service offerings,” said Kentwood President and owner Art Hasse in a prepared statement. “We are extremely pleased to be able to become partners with the outstanding people of Maddalena’s office furniture division.”

The Jackson firm already sells many of the same office furniture lines, and will now market lines such as HON, Allsteel, Trendway, National, Sit-On-It, Global and others, as well as an expanded selection of used and remanufactured products.

“But equally important, we have had similar value systems,” Hasse said.
