GRAND HAVEN — The Wharf Marina has received a facelift.

The 35-year-old business, located at

501 N. Third St.
, was bought by Barrett Bruce Holdings earlier this year and has seen more than $1 million in facility and equipment upgrades from the new owner. The company took over operations in May and started renovations soon after.

Renovations and upgrades have included a ship's store with boating accessories and supplies, a customer pavilion including a bathroom area, floating docks and an underground fuel system that allows for easy fueling. The upgrades also include a private parking area, ground improvements and a partnership with Precision Power Inc. that will provide high performance marine mechanical and maintenance services in a 12,000-square-foot facility.

"It doesn't even look like the same place," said David Vorce, vice president of Barrett Bruce Holdings.

The changes add another dimension to the area's marina options, Vorce said.

"With all the different changes in the Grand Haven area, the holding company felt it was necessary to improve the look and feel of the area," he said. "We want to enhance that convenience by providing a truly state-of-the-art dockside service for our customers."

Vorce said the company is planning for further improvements next year.
