GRAND RAPIDS — Grand Rapids Community College President Juan Olivarez and Amway Grand Plaza Hotel President Joseph Tomaselli were appointed last week by city commissioners to the Downtown Development Authority.

Mayor George Heartwell nominated both for the four-year posts. They replace Thomas Wesholski and Casey Wondergem, two longtime board members, on the nine-seat panel that supports much of the economic development activity in the downtown district.

The terms for Olivarez and Tomaselli begin next week and run through 2011. Tomaselli was also appointed to the Monroe North Tax Increment Financing Authority.
