Ready To Tee Off
GRAND RAPIDS — The executive committee of the new West Michigan Sports Commission will hold its inaugural meeting at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel Thursday.
Commission Vice Chairman and Assistant County Administrator Wayman Britt said the committee will sort through the applications that were made to the organization and fill the group’s remaining 29 positions.
The commission will have 40 members. Eleven were appointed last month by county commissioners and they make up the executive committee.
Britt said more than 100 individuals applied for a seat on the commission, which has been charged with boosting business in the local hospitality industry by drawing sporting events to the region.
