Hope Network Drive Underway
GRAND RAPIDS — Hope Network Foundation has launched a $1.2 million “Brighter Futures” capital campaign in an effort to build a new 7,000-square-foot, therapeutic facility for children with autism or other neurodevelopmental issues.
The outpatient building, to be constructed at the Institute for Neurodevelopmental Differences on the Coral Lettinga Campus in southeast Grand Rapids, will house a therapeutic activity gym specially equipped to handle sensory issues many autistic children experience. The gym will also include areas for summer day camps, specialized day programs, a therapeutic recreational area for Hope’s inpatient population and a day respite program for parents.
The mix of inpatient and outpatient therapies on one campus will help Hope Network better serve the needs of hundreds of families, according to Foundation Executive Director Robert Knoor.
Depending on the fund drive’s completion date, groundbreaking is tentatively scheduled for April 2008. Construction is estimated to take 12-18 months. Hope’s Lettinga Campus is located at 3333 36th St.
