Eastbrook Homes, West Michigan’s largest home builder and developer, celebrated in April the grand opening of a 4,000-square-foot Home Creation Studio at 1188 East Paris Ave. SE in Grand Rapids, just south of Cascade Road.

The state-of-the-art design center includes several fully functioning kitchen and bath vignettes, along with galleries dedicated to interior finishes; lighting; cabinets and countertops; exterior finishes; home electronics; doors and trim; and flooring. There are also several exterior vignettes showcasing brick, stone and masonry hard surfaces, landscaping ideas and outdoor living options.

“For more than 40 years, Eastbrook Homes has offered West Michigan home buyers exceptional neighborhoods, incomparable value, inspiring choices and extraordinary service,” said Mick McGraw, Eastbrook Homes CEO.

“Now we’re upping the ante in the design area. Today’s customer is very savvy about finishes and products. And, in most cases, they have unique concerns that are not ‘one-size-fits-all.’ Eastbrook strives to offer our clients the products that will fill their unique needs and help them create the home of their dreams. This new design studio will help us continue to do that.”

Through visits to the studio, clients will consider their lifestyle needs, see and touch many of the available choices, and select products that address their needs within their budget.

“Everything is a la carte so you, as customers, can say, ‘That item to me is a value, but this item, I wouldn’t pay half that much for it.’ They get precisely what they do want and don’t have to pay for what they don’t want. I think that makes a difference for their overall satisfaction,” McGraw said.

Eastbrook Home Creation Consultant Ann Wierengo, ASID, added, “Our buyers will have the opportunity to select from a vast assortment of distinctive products with which to differentiate and personalize their new home.

“We are excited to showcase state-of-the-art kitchens, entertaining islands, furniture-style vanity cabinets, home theater systems and much more,” she said. “With some of the hot trends leading us toward vintage and urban-inspired styles, Eastbrook’s Home Creation Studio will open up the doors to a world of possibilities for our customers.”

McGraw said his company contemplated the studio for several years, visiting others across the country and working with vendors. Such centers are generally available only from high-end builders.

He said the current downturn in residential construction is a good time to take on projects like this one.

“I know what it’s like to see lulls,” said McGraw, who has been with Eastbrook for 30 of its 40 years. “We look at every downturn as a way to get ready for the improving market. We improve customer service and what we deliver. This becomes the best time to do it, when we have the most time. We see it as long term.”

The Home Creation Studio is available to Eastbrook Homes and Michael McGraw Homes customers by appointment. It was designed with the help of Jane Meagher, president of Success Strategies LLC, a design studio consulting company. Numerous vendors and trade partners collaborated in the space’s design   CQ
