Transit Group Buys Land
GRAND RAPIDS — The Interurban Transit Partnership board approved the purchase of five vacant parcels from the city that will be used to expand The Rapid transit system’s Wealthy Street operations center to accommodate growth needs over the next 30 years.
The five parcels are located at Bartlett and Finney streets. The combined $670,000 purchase price of the properties is being covered by two federal grants that are included in the fiscal 2007 budget.
The parcels have been environmentally tested and deemed “clean.” The Federal Transit Administration must concur with the appraisals and environmental assessments before The Rapid can acquire the property.
