G T Together Again

BYRON CENTER — G & T Industries is planning a move from Grand Rapids to Byron Center next year, following the relocation of its rapidly growing World Resource Partners division there last year.

The company recently broke ground on a 205,000-square-foot facility at

1111 76^th St.

Due to be completed in April 2008, the pre-engineered facility includes 28 dock doors, four overhead doors, and natural light in most of the production and distribution areas. The company’s headquarters will occupy 17,600 square feet of office space and a 2,300-square-foot shipping office.

The facility will be leased from First Companies Inc.

“It’s going to be good to get us all back under one roof again,” said John Kaminski, G & T director of human resources. “We’ve been doing more cross-selling between the groups, and getting us together will help foster that.”

The 53-year-old G & T consists of Decorative Surfaces Inc., a maker of wall coverings and high-quality paints; Foam Products Group, a supplier of custom foam products to packaging, marine and furniture industries; Global Products Solutions, a supplier of vinyl and textile products to the marine and automotive industries; and international logistics firm World Resource Partners.

World Resource Partners outgrew the company’s current facility at

3413 Eastern Ave.

SE in Grand Rapids last year and relocated to a 76^th Street location near the company’s headquarters site.

Last year, the company combined two of its Pennsylvania plants into one larger facility in Reading, Pa. Another location was consolidated into the company’s upgraded Maryville, Tenn. location.
