Lansing Director Joins Grand Rapids
GRAND RAPIDS — City Manager Kurt Kimball recently named Kara Wood as the city’s new economic development director.
Wood joins the city on Sept. 4. She replaces Susan Shannon, who resigned earlier this year to direct economic development in Seattle.
“Ms. Wood comes to Grand Rapids with rich and deep experience in all facets of economic development, ranging from major corporate projects to the use of state development programs, to neighborhood business development,” said Kimball in a statement.
Wood will leave her position as director of Downtown Core and SmartZone liaison for the Lansing Economic Development Corp.
“The city has established foundations for success in the strong commitment from business, community, neighborhood and institutional leaders,” said Wood. “I look forward to moving Grand Rapids forward by building upon those foundations and taking advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead.”
