Hoekstra Hosts CDIFs Workshop
MUSKEGON — U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Holland, will host a U.S. Treasury Department session to help certify community-based financial institutions that serve low-income people or work in economically distressed communities to receive grant funds through its programs.
The event will be held 10 a.m. Sept. 19 at the Holiday Inn Muskegon Harbor, 939 Third St., Muskegon. Detailed instructions and a link to online registration for the event are available at www.cdfifund.gov.
Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) provide a range of financial products and services in economically distressed target markets, such as mortgage financing for low income and first-time homebuyers, commercial loans, small business lending and investments to small start-up or expanding companies.
The workshop will benefit financial or lending institutions, housing groups, economic development professionals and organizations that issue microloans.
