Park Free For An Hour
GRAND RAPIDS — For the third consecutive year, the city will offer an hour of free parking at four downtown ramps for the upcoming holiday shopping season.
Parking Services Director Pam Ritsema said the 60 minutes of free parking would start on Thanksgiving and run through New Year’s Eve at the Louis Campau, Monroe Center, Ottawa Fulton and Pearl Ionia ramps. Last year, parkers received more than 1,000 hours of free parking worth $2,059. The city received revenue of $2,421 from those who parked for more than an hour.
“The vast majority of people stayed for longer than an hour, which is what we wanted them to do,” said Ritsema.
Details of the free-parking offer, along with the coupons, will be posted soon on the Downtown Alliance Web site at www.downtowngr.org.
