ZEELAND — The rear camera display mirror made by Gentex Corp.will be available on the new Kia Mohave SUV sold in Korea starting in early 2008, according to an announcement from Gentex.

The rear camera, a safety option, incorporates Gentex mirror technology to put a live image of the area behind the vehicle on the interior rear view mirror when the vehicle is put in reverse. The 3.5-inch LCD display appears automatically on the Gentex auto-dimming mirror's reflective surface when the vehicle is put in reverse. The display disappears when the vehicle is shifted into any forward gear. The display on the mirror is possible through the use of the Gentex proprietary "transflective" mirror coating and lighting technologies.

Gentex produces about 80 percent of all the automatically dimming rearview mirrors in new cars built around the world today. The mirrors incorporating the rear camera display are available on the Mazda CX-9, Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator and Mark LT, and the Ford F-150 pickup.
