GVSU's Haas Appointed
ALLENDALE — Grand Valley State University President Thomas Haas has been elected to lead the Presidents Council, State Universities of Michigan, an organization of leaders of the state’s 15 public higher education institutions.
Haas, appointed president of GVSU in 2006, is slated to begin a two-year term at the council’s helm on July 1. The council’s purpose is to promote the public interest value of state universities.
“In Michigan’s challenging economic times, Presidents Council’s mission of articulating how our 15 public universities serve the public good through educational, social and economic development is more important than ever before,” Haas stated.
Haas replaces Oakland University President Gary Russi.
