Four Local Hospitals Among Top 100
GRAND RAPIDS — Of the top 100 hospitals in the U.S. rated by Thomson Healthcare, 14 are in Michigan, including four in West Michigan.
Hackley Hospital in Muskegon, Holland Hospital in Holland, Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming and Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids all captured the award for 2007.
It was the second year in a row that Metro Health and Hackley made the list, and the third year in a row for Holland. Spectrum Health has been named a Top 100 hospital six times since 1994.
Thomson scored 3,018 hospitals in several categories: major teaching; teaching; and small, medium and large community hospitals. The Ann Arbor-based company reviewed clinical quality, operating efficiency and financial performance, looking at data from Medicare Provider Analysis and Review for 2005 and 2006, as well as Medicare cost reports for 2006.
