ATEK Opens Costa Rica Plant

GRAND RAPIDS —  ATEK Medical, a division of ATEK Companies,  has opened a medical device manufacturing facility in Heredia, Costa Rica.

“With this new investment, ATEK Medical has doubled its manufacturing capacity and strengthened its ability to offer unparalleled manufacturing and new product launch services to the medical device industry,” said Kay Phillips, president, ATEK Companies.

ATEK Companies is comprised of five businesses, which include ATEK Medical, ATEK Manufacturing, ATEK Plastics, ATEK Products and Progress Casting. Facilities are located in Grand Rapids; Minneapolis and Brainerd, Minn.; Kerrville, Texas; and New Hampton, Iowa.

The Heredia facility, located in a free trade zone near the San Jose International Airport, will specialize in Class II single-use and electro-disposable device, and Class III implantable device manufacturing.

“As a solutions provider, it is extremely critical that our growth plans align with what our clients need to sustain their growth,” said Chris Oleksy, president, ATEK Medical. “The addition of a Costa Rica facility strategically positions ATEK Medical to better serve our clients’ domestic and international growth goals.”

With similar capabilities as ATEK Medical’s facility in Grand Rapids, the Costa Rica facility is equipped and staffed to provide ATEK clients with a complete manufacturing solution.
