GRAND RAPIDS — Kent County commissioners are likely to approve on Thursday a three-year labor agreement with the Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Association, whose membership has 37 full-time employees across four wage classifications.

The contract would be in effect through 2010 and would result in a three-year increase to wages and benefits totaling $644,879. The agreement includes the same health insurance, prescription drug plan and employee premium contributions of 10 percent.

Human Resources Director Don Clack said the county will be proposing “significant changes” to the health plan in the near future.

Commissioners are also expected to accept nearly $5.5 million Thursday in private gifts and grants to build the Fred Meijer Millennium Park Trail Network at the county-owned, 1,500-acre park. Assistant County Administrator Mary Swanson said the funds will be used to develop and improve 16 miles of trails in the park, and construction will take three years to complete. The network will be a series of non-motorized trails.
