BCU President Receives Premier Award
BATTLE CREEK — The Michigan Economic Developers Association has honored Jim Hettinger, president and CEO of Battle Creek Unlimited with its coveted MEDA Medalist Award.
According to MEDA, the award recognizes Hettinger’s 30 years of accomplishments in economic development, his influence over a generation of economic development professionals through mentoring and good practice and his demonstrated commitment to the profession of economic development.
“Jim is so deserving of this award,” remarked Birgit Klohs, president and CEO of The
Right Place economic development organization. “He is simply one of the best in the industry. Jim is and ardent advocate of manufacturing and continuous improvement, which enables us to remain competitive in the global marketplace.”
Hettinger announced in June that he would retire from his long time post at BCU in December. Karl Dehn, BCU’s marketing director, has been chosen to replace Hettinger as president and CEO.
The MEDA also recognized BCU Technology Marketing Director Cheryl Beard with an award in the Web site category for BCU’s newly developed Web site.
