GRAND RAPIDS — The Grand Rapids Symphony has announced that Peter Kjome (pronounced Cho-me) will be its new president and CEO beginning in September. He is replacing former Grand Rapids Symphony President Melia Tourangeau, who left the Symphony in April to become president and CEO of the Utah Symphony and Opera in Salt Lake City.

According to a news release, Kjome has experience in both business and music. Since 2000, he has worked for 3M Co. in Saint Paul, Minn., where he served in a variety of capacities ranging from strategic planning to general management.
