Allegiant adds more flights from Ford International
Low-cost carrier Allegiant Air LLC will begin offering nonstop jet service from Gerald R. Ford International Airport to LasVagas on May 1, with flights on Monday and Friday. On both days, flights will depart Ford International at 9:10 p.m. and arrive at McCarran International Airport in LasVagas 10:10 p.m. Return flights will depart LasVagas at 1:45 p.m. and arrive in Grand Rapids at 8:30 p.m.
The new flights are in addition to Allegiant’s new nonstop flights from Grand Rapids to Orlando and to the Tampa Bay area, which begin next Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. The Orlando-bound flights will operate Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, departing Grand Rapids at 1:15 p.m. and arriving at the Orlando-Sanford International Airport at 5:30 p.m. Tampa Bay-bound flights will operate Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Flights will depart Grand Rapids at 11:40 a.m. and arrive at the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport in at 2:25 p.m. All Allegiant flights to and from Grand Rapids will be serviced by full-size, 150-seat MD-80 series jet aircraft.
LasVagas-based Allegiant relocated its flight operations to Ford International from the Lansing Capital City Airport last November. According to Kent County Department of Aeronautics statistics, Orlando is the most population destination for travelers from this area and LasVagas is the second most popular.
“West Michigan residents have demonstrated their strong support for Allegiant’s new nonstop service to Orlando and Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla.,” said James Koslosky, executive director of Gerald R. Ford International Airport. “As a result, Allegiant has decided to add nonstop service to Las Vegas, beginning May 1. Once again, it will be important that our West Michigan customers embrace and support this new service.”
