Group cites young nonprofit leaders
Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Greater Grand Rapids will host the 2009 YNPN-GGR Leadership Awards to celebrate young professionals who are leaders in the Grand Rapids nonprofit community.
“It’s our first large-scale event for YNPN and we’re hoping to make it an annual event, because we feel that there are so many amazing nonprofits in Grand Rapids,” said Jenny Schaub, co-chair of the organizations education committee. “There are a lot of young professionals who are contributing to those organizations.”
YNPN-GGR was established in Grand Rapids about a year and a half ago, said Schaub and is an independently operated local chapter of a national organization.
The award categories include Young Nonprofit Professional of the Year, Exemplary Executive, Champion, Edison, Advocate, Resource (organization nominee), The Connector, Good to Great, the Dynamic Duo and the DoGooder award.
YNPN-GGR is accepting nominations for the awards with a deadline of Aug. 14. At the end of August, the organization will announce the top three nominees in each award category. The event, which will include dessert, a cash-bar and live music, will take place Oct. 15, with more details to come.
