WAYLAND TOWNSHIP — The Gun Lake Tribe of Pottawatomi Indians broke ground on its Gun Lake Casino in Wayland Township last week. The invitation-only groundbreaking ceremony came after many legal battles, nearly 10 years after the tribe announced plans to open a casino on land it purchased at the Bradley exit on U.S. 131.

At right, a tribal ceremony marks the kick-off of the event, featuring tribe members John Shagonaby, CEO of MBPI Inc., the tribe's economic development corporation, Junsun Bush and John Bush, among others.
