Downtown Market has a leader
Mimi Fritz has been named president and CEO of the new Downtown Market, a $30 million development the Grand Action Committee and Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority currently are building on Ionia Avenue SW near Wealthy Street.
“She will soon get to work building her team and preparing the market for opening day and beyond,” he added.
Aquino said Fritz has served as marketing director of the Downtown Holland Principal Shopping Center and the Holland Farmers Market. She will manage the market’s daily operations.
“The Downtown Market has an exciting future as an integral hub in the movement to build and celebrate a thriving local food system in West Michigan. The community’s vision for and commitment to the project is exceptional. I’m truly honored and eager to take on a leadership role in the enterprise,” said Fritz.
The market will be a year-round, indoor-outdoor attraction that is projected to be a catalyst for further economic development in an underdeveloped section of downtown. The Downtown Market is set to open next summer.
