Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park concluded its 2012 Summer Concert Series in August. With the largest lineup of performances to date, it is no surprise it was the best season so far for the Gardens.

Featuring a wide variation of performers, including Bonnie Raitt, Huey Lewis and the News, Rufus Wainwright, Brandi Carlile, Lyle Lovett and Steve Miller Band, the 25 show concert series resulted in 12 sold-out performances.

The Gardens broke down its 2012 concert series numbers compared to 2011.

  • 42,446 general admission tickets were sold in 2012, compared to 34,985 tickets sold in 2011, which is a 21.33 percent increase.
  • 89 percent of the possible tickets available in 2012 were sold, compared to 84 percent of possible tickets in 2011.

Andrea Wolschleger, public relations manager for the Gardens, noted that 2012 included three more concerts than the 2011 series, which is a 13.64 percent increase.

“The 2012 Summer Concert Series was such a successful year due to the eclectic mix of acts presented, as well as generous support and interest from the community,” said David Hooker, president and CEO of the Gardens. “We are thrilled with this year’s outcome and are already investing in another quality lineup for 2013.”
